Oakton College Library Policies

Study Rooms

General

  • All users must abide by the Patron Conduct Policy. See link below.
  • Priority for study rooms and booths are for current Oakton students (including Alliance/non-credit students).
  • You must check in when you arrive by scanning the QR code in the room. For assistance, ask at the library desks; Failure to check-in within 15 minutes of start time will result in cancellation.

Capacity

  • Only one person is allowed in a study booth.
  • The Huddle room has a maximum capacity of eight people. (Skokie A 202)
  • The Focus room has a maximum capacity of four people. (Skokie  A 203)

Time Limits

  • Study booths have a daily time limit of two hours.
  • Study rooms have a daily limit of three hours per student.

Library Classrooms

The library manages the following classrooms:

Skokie Campus Learning Commons Classroom A204

  • Priority use for the classroom is Library Class Instruction, workshops, and events.
  • The classroom may also be booked for Learning Commons events by other Learning Commons departments.
  • The classroom is not available for use as a regular classroom space and cannot be booked through AdAstra. For computer lab / classroom requests, please consult with your department for instructions for booking computer classrooms through AdAstra.
  • Requests must be submitted two weeks in advance. Bookings submitted with fewer than two weeks' notice are subject to cancellation. 
  • When not in use, the library learning commons classroom is available for students as a drop-in study space for individual or group study. It is not a designated quiet study space. A designated quiet study space is available in the Skokie Learning Commons. For directions please ask library staff or faculty for assistance.
