Can I Check Out Textbooks?

The Oakton Library collection does have some older editions of textbooks.  You can look in the book catalog online to see if a textbook is in the Oakton Library collection.

If you see RESERVE listed for the book location (see example below),  you'll know that your textbook cannot be checked out at this time.

Temporarily Shelved at: Reserve

Some Reserve books may available for the Fall 2021 term.   A librarian will be glad to help. Ask a Librarian

Textbook Reserves at the Oakton Library

The Library has my textbook on reserve.  Now what?

Students may go to the Oakton Library Circulation Desk at both campus libraries to check out a textbook from Course Reserves.

Reserve textbooks may be used for 2 hours of In-Library use.  The textbooks in the course reserve collection do not leave the library (you cannot take them home).

The Oakton Library does not buy textbooks for every course offered at the college. Your textbook may not be on reserve, but it's always good to check.

If you're not sure if the Oakton Library has your textbook, Ask a Librarian!
