MLA Citations use a pattern for information about each type of source.

In this box you will find examples of two types of MLA citations.  One is for a magazine article and the other is for a YouTube video.

For each citation there will be

a format or pattern for an MLA citation

an example of a real MLA citation for an article or video .

Magazine Article:

Format for citation:  Author. "Title of Article." Title of Periodical, Day Month Year, URL if needed.

Bosker, Bianca. "Big in Canada: Throwing Axes for Fun." The Atlantic, Sept. 2016, www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/09/canada/492749.

YouTube Video

Format for citation:   "Title of Video." Website Name, date, URL or permalink

"How to Argue - Philosophical Reasoning." YouTube, uploaded by CrashCourse, 16 Feb. 2016, www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKEhdsnKKHs.
