Circulation Information

This guide will explain how items circulate in the library and reserve procedures.

Reserve for Faculty

Physical Reserves

Faculty can request to have both Oakton items and their personal copies to be put on reserve for their students to use throughout the semester. If you wish to place a DVD on reserve, the library does have viewing stations available for student use (remotes available for check out at the circulation desk). Items placed on reserve will be added to the Course Reserves in the O.W.L. Catalog.

Reserve Rules

  • We cannot put instructor editions of textbooks on reserve without permission from your chair.
  • We cannot put books borrowed from other institutions on reserve.
  • The Library adheres to the Fair Use Guidelines of United States Copyright Law (Title 17, United States Code). If a Reserve item falls outside of Fair Use Guidelines, you must seek copyright permission to use the material for Reserves (see division office).
  • Please let the students know:
    • They will be required to have a student ID/library card to check out material.
    • They need to know the course code for their class (ex. BIO 101) – this is how we arrange them on the shelf.
