- Does the library offer workshops?
Yes. Please click the clink for our current offerings. Extra credit certificates can be provided. - How can I get a research guide just for my class?
We would love to create a research guide just for your class! Normally, these go hand-in-hand with a library class. Please reach out to your division liaison. - How can my students book a research consultation with a librarian?
Students can book virtual appointments during campus closure during open library hours. When on campus classes resume, students can meet with librarians on either campus. If you're requiring appointments or offering extra credit, please let us know! Use the "research guide" link above and select this option on question #11. - How can my students find copies of their textbooks?
Every student hopes to find a copy of their textbook at a bargain price.

- How do I place an item on reserve?
Books, articles, and other items may be placed on Reserve at the library. Please fill out the form linked below and bring it and the item(s) to either campus circulation desk.
- How do I request library instruction for a live class?
Use this form to request a library instruction content for your live class whether you meet online or in person. If you have questions, contact Martinique Haller, mhaller@oakton.edu. - How do I request library instruction for a class that is exclusively asynchronous and online?
Embedded librarians work closely with you and your online class by preparing asynchronous content for your students using posts and/or a research guide that includes videos, text, links to databases, eBooks, and/or other resources. - How do I request an article not available in library databases?
To request an article, please fill out the form (access by clicking the question text above) to the best of your ability. If you need help, please contact the library. If we are able to obtain your article, it will be sent to your OAKTON email address. - Where can I find the research guide for my subject?Research guides are available for all subjects offered as a certificate or pre-major. We also have many research topic guides to help students get started with popular research topics. Please contact your division liaison if you have suggestions for your research guide
- How do I suggest a book for the library's collection?
The Oakton Library welcomes your recommendations for books that you would like the Library to purchase and add to its collection. Requests for books that support the curriculum are given first priority for purchase when the library budget permits. Please contact your division liaison.
