Overview

Why add Links as assets?
The LibGuides Link Checker Tool provides a frequently updated list of broken links. However, Link Checker only monitors links added as assets. Links added to a guide as Rich Text/HTML content items are invisible to the Link Checker Tool and must be checked manually.

Create a brand-new link asset and add it to your guide - written version

  • While editing your guide, click on the Add / Reorder button iconat the bottom of the box where you want to add the link.
  • Select Link from the dropdown menu that appears.
  • Give the link a name in the Link Name field. This is what users will click on.
  • In the Link URL field, enter the full URL of the page you're linking to (including the http:// or https://).
  • Leave the Window Target field as “Use System Default (New Window)."
  • The Use Proxy setting should be left at No.
  • If you would like to add a brief description about the link, enter it in the Description field.
  • You can also enter additional details about the link in the More Info field.
  • Choose your preference from the Description Display options.
  • Use the Position option to choose where the new asset should be inserted in the box. (This can be changed later.)
